CREDENTIALS: Attorney, MBA, Designated Real Estate Broker, Real Estate Instructor, Notary

From drafting Living Trusts, Wills, POAs, and end of life directives to forming LLC’s, drafting and recording Beneficiary Deeds and Warranty/Quitclaim Deeds, BJ is committed to ensuring that every client’s expectation is exceeded. She has worked with hundreds of clients on selling/buying their homes and investment properties, having transacted over $60 million in real estate, and has enjoyed teaching pre-licensing and continuing education classes to Realtors over the past 13+ years.

BJ grew up in Northern Virginia, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Mary Washington. She went on to get her MBA in Charleston S.C., before moving to Arizona and getting her J.D. (Juris Doctor) at Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU, and quickly passing the Bar exam.

BJ is an active real estate Broker/Realtor, and real estate attorney, and has been an active agent in Tucson for over 23 years. She is the Owner and Designated Broker of Arizona Realty and Law. She has done everything real estate! She has been a developer, building two new home subdivisions in Tucson from dirt, was part owner of a mortgage brokerage, and has been involved in buying, rehabbing, and selling dozens of distressed properties. She has extensive property management experience, having turned many of her foreclosure purchases into rentals.

BJ has been teaching pre-licensing students and Realtor and broker continuing education (CE) classes for Tucson’s Hogan School of Real Estate and Arizona School of Real Estate and Business out of Phoenix for over 13 years. She has also taught CE classes for the Tucson Association of Realtors and the White Mountain Association of Realtors. BJ has authored several classes, approved by the Department of Real Estate, that she teaches for CE credit or for a quick lunch-and-learn, on Estate Planning, on Real Estate in Estate Planning, on the 10 Ways to Take Title, on New Construction Contracts, and more.

BJ has often been called on as an expert in real estate litigation. As an attorney, BJ specializes in real estate law, offering estate planning services and entity formation (LLCs, etc.), and helps clients deed their properties into newly formed LLC’s, Trusts, or other entities, often drafting and recording Beneficiary Deeds for clients who quickly need to name an heir to their property and avoid probate, due to an advanced medical illness or other timely matter. BJ offers expert opinions in matters related to contracts, deeds, promissory notes, liens, deeds of trusts, easements, title, leases, landlord-tenant matters, agency, and more.

In addition to offering coaching and training on contract documents and life planning services to Brokers across Pima and Maricopa County BJ goes in-house to other brokerages to teach CE classes to Realtors and to teams. She will attend regional and monthly meetings at Real Estate offices, to offer Broker tips, market insights, and common pitfalls to avoid with regards to Agency and to contract documents.

For fun, BJ tries to keep up with her 6th and 9th graders, and spends her free time with her life partner. She is an avid reader, and has a long history of running marathons, triathalons, and shorter jogs around Reid Park or along the river wash. She is currently revising her own Will to include her 11 year old African Sulcata tortoise who will outlive both her and her children, as he will live to be up to 150 years old and will weigh between 100-200 pounds. She is therefore also learning to compost to feed this enormous reptile.
